Clematis Atragene Group 'Pointy'
An intriguing Swedish cultivar with slightly nodding, bell-shaped flowers. 4 elongated, pointed, creamy tepals are 5-6 cm long and covered with numerous brown-violet dots. The margins of the tepals are bent upwards and show an interior tuft of 1.5-2 cm long, pale yellow staminodes. The flowers appear in April-May and then turn into fluffy seed heads that stay decorative from June till autumn. It attaches itself to supports by means of leaf petioles. Very frost hardy and undemanding. It tolerates semi shade.
Useful for growing up fences, over rocks, tree stumps, and deciduous or coniferous trees. It looks particularly good against a dark background or when combined with blue-flowered

Clematis Atragene Group 'Purple Spider', selection
A charming cultivar with interesting flowers: semi-double, bell shaped, nodding, dark violet, almost black during April-June, with occasional flowers in August. During summer and autumn the plant is adorned with decorative silky seed heads. A very hardy plant with low requirements.
Ideal for growing over fences, walls, or scrambling over rocks and old stumps. Particularly useful for planting near small trees and coniferous or deciduous shrubs. Looks lovely against bright background, e.g. yellow leafed or yellow flowered plants. Makes good ground cover.

An early-flowering (April-May), Swedish cultivar with partially open, slightly nodding, white, 4-tepalled flowers. It resembles Clematis sibirica but has much larger flowers. From June to autumn the plant is adorned with fluffy seed heads. It holds on to supports using twining leaf petioles. Very frost hardy and undemanding. Succeeds in semi-shade.
Particularly useful for covering fences, rocks, old tree trunks or deciduous and coniferous shrubs. Suitable as a ground-cover plant.

A hybrid of Clematis macropetala and Clematis alpina. Lovely semi-double slightly nodding flowers with light yellow stamens. Forming an open bell sepals are deep pink on the outside and paler on the inner side. Main and the most profuse flowering in April - May on old wood, but the plant continues blooming throughout the summer on new shoots. Following form June to autumn flowers are followed by decorative fluffy fair seedheads. No pruning required. Tolerates moderate soils but good drainage necessary. A hardy, healthy and undemanding vine. It can be planted in partial shade.
Ideal for growing over fences, walls, rocks and old trunks. Makes good ground cover. Particularly useful in small gardens.

First Clematis variety with golden-yellow leaves. Handsome contrasting violet-blue, bell-shaped, wide-opening flowers, 5 – 6 cm across, are composed of 4 – 8 lanceolate tepals. It blooms in late April and May and repeats flowering in summer but the crop is scarce. From June to autumn fancy fluffy seed heads adorn the plant. It grows 2-3 m high and clings to its support by twining leaf stalks. Very frost hardy and undemanding. It tolerates partial shade but the variegation is more prominent in full sun.
Particularly useful for growing on fences, stones, old tree stumps, deciduous and coniferous shrubs. Makes good ground cover.

Selected by Hans Stolwijk in Holland, as sport between Clematis alpina plants.

A species native to China, Japan, Korea and Siberia. Flowers consisting of four sepals, the color ranging from pale to deep violet-blue with a central yellowy-white eye. Main flowering in early spring on old wood, the blooms continue to appear throughout the summer. Decorative seedheads in summer and autumns. No pruning required. Tolerates poor soil provided it's well drained. A hardy healthy and quite undemanding plant. It can grow in partial shade.
